Q & A (IV, V and VI)

Welcome back, my little possums.

Regarding my last Bond University student what-are-they-thinking if-they-are-thinking-at-all challenge

"Robert, what exactly should I answer for question 16 in the assignment?"

I imagine you sitting completely distraught in some corner, biting fingernails because you cannot find the answer. I hope that these are your fingernails, everything else would be .... well, I digress.

Ok, I'll give you a hint. The answer to the above question would also match the following BUSQU (Bond University student question, Australians love 5-letter abbreviations):

"Robert, what exactly is the assignment about?"

Still no clue? Oh, my. You are so not BUMAC (Bond University mindset and attitude compatible).

Alright, one last hint before I loose all respect in your BUTQE (Bond University Teaching Quality Excellence):

"Robert, I have missed the last 3 labs because I was sick or away or something. The deadline for the last assignment is now today in 10 hours. Do you think, I can make it?

I'm waiting.

Imagine me, sitting relaxed in front of my Linux workstation, sipping coffee, looking at the student, smiling wickedly and saying ...

...saying what?

  • "I guess, we both will never know..."

It's so obvious, really.

Q: "Robert, what exactly should I answer for question 16 in the assignment?"
A: "42"

Q: "Robert, what exactly is the assignment about?"
A: "About life, the universe, and everything"

(These answers are not orginial, but maybe inspire the student to read a classic. This way s/he will have learned at least *something*.)

Q: "... Do you think, I can make it?"
A: "Yes."
(The answer to all Boolean questions is "yes" if you are a positive thinker and want to transfer your positive vibs to the people surrounding you. As a teacher you should never discourage your students. When analysing the failure after the deadline you can come up with sophisticated hints, like "start earlier".)

Hmmm, it shows that you have experience in handling students. In this vein, I appreciate your positive thinking attitude. I also had that when I was younger....
